Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over optimization word problems, the second derivative test, and concavity. He told me he felt more confident for his midterm."
"Worked some revision topics for differentiation. We practiced the use of first and second differentials for calculating function extrema and inflection points."
"We went over matrix multiplication vectors and matrix, some derivatives, and the quiz that the student took. She is progressing well."
"Integrals were covered. Student just needed a review for her final. Areas under curves were her focus points. Student was great and I gave her strategies to recognize what formulas for integrals to use. We had a great session and there were no concerns. This was the first time I had this student."
"We started with going over the previous exam looking at derivatives and integrals of transcendental functions. Then we looked at interest rate functions as well as radioactive decay. After that we worked more on multivariable calculus, looking at partial derivatives of various functions."
"We looked at local minima and maxima and optimization-type problems. These are the topics the student felt most unsure about that are coming up in the next midterm. I also demonstrated some examples of saddle points using 3D graphics. We'll meet again just before the midterm to do some more review. I encouraged the student to try doing some practice tests under timed, exam-like conditions to see how well she could solve the problems under time constraints. I think the main issue for the student is being able to answer the problems quickly enough--with this practice, she will be able to work out how to best use the limited time in the exam."
