Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered: implicit differentiation, related rates, applying differentiation to position/velocity/acceleration. The student seems to be doing very well with the majority of the material."
"We reviewed basic derivatives and how they relate to tangent lines, as well as the product and quotient rules. The student seemed very adept at applying these concepts, although some of the trickier problems require more concentration. We went through most of her homework for the week, and also discussed the PSAT and National Merit Scholarship program a bit, which she is taking this week."
"We reviewed homework on differentiation rules. We will review for a test next session on differentiation, with a focus on limits."
"The homework the student had was specifically on the chain rule. We talked about the definition of chain rule (f'(g(x))*g'(x)), some more exponent work (why is x^-1=1/x?), and combining the chain rule and product rule. We spent over 3 hours working today and did a lot of good work. I suggested to the student that if she needs to spend this much time practicing, she should break it up into chunks of no more than 2 hours."
"The student had to get ready for his first test. We went over a study guide about the main three differentiating rules- product, quotient, and chain. He is going to finish his problems before he starts his test. He seems pretty confident."
"The student had homework on integration by separation and was catching on well. She still does most of the homework with little help from me, sometimes needing help at the start. I'm giving her additional homework problems to work on in between sessions to give her more practice."
