Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I had a great discussion about why you shouldn't combine fractions and decimals in the same number. We tried multiplying with these complicated numbers, but there was a lot of guessing and difficulty. He had some great questions that I hope he never stops asking."
"The student and I covered the material from her previous test, but she had not received a grade yet. Her teacher moved on to a different subject in class, and they are just practicing long division and multiplication. I gave her a few challenging problems with long numbers and decimals as well. She is very comfortable with division and multiplication and just needs to review her work to make sure there are no small mistakes."
"During this session, the student and I worked through his second quiz. Since last time, the concepts of spaces and subspaces seemed more cemented. This week, we are going to email about his newest homework if he has any trouble with it."
"Today the student and I studied for her math final tomorrow. She has been studying on her own. I feel that she needs to learn the concepts and not the repetition of the process to have an effective understanding. We were able to cover sections she had trouble on."
"We worked on more of the student's review packet. We completed two of the four review sheets that he will work on in class. We will continue to review."
"This session we focused on combining mixed fractions, simplifying those fractions, and other manipulations of the fractions. These techniques included using the LCD, factoring, and dividing mixed fractions. We spent the entire hour session looking at different ways to simplify the problem. We tried to look at other ways to go through the problem to ensure that all steps are shown and there are less chances of losing information."
