Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed exponent rules, learned how to reduce square roots by factoring and using exponent rules, did practice problems on FOIL and exponents and square roots. We discussed some aspects of test taking strategies, format and timing. We will plan to continue with math on Wednesday. The student will read review material for Arithmetic and Algebra from her document. We will plan to do 1-2 practice tests before her scheduled exam."
"We reviewed some material in statistics, mean, median, and relative frequency. We also worked on questions with bar graphs or line graphs, percentages, fractions, mean, permutations, combinations, factorial, n choose k, and some probability questions."
"A productive session. We began by going over a few reading comprehension practice problems. We then spent the rest of the session going over questions from a practice test. The good news is that he's only struggling with the most difficult questions, and that he's consistently using the right tools and strategies to attack the problems. We'll keep going over practice problems in our upcoming sessions to try to make these difficult questions more familiar and less intimidating. For homework, he's going to read a passage that I email him, go over five or six probability practice questions to make sure he's okay with those concepts, and do some more vocab review."
