"The student and I worked on spelling and reading today. First, we made sentences from a list of vocabulary words provided by his teacher; he was given some of these words previous weeks and remembered the meanings of most of the words, which was great. There was a definite improvement this week in his ability to use new vocabulary words in sentences! We then worked on his English homework, which was a worksheet with vocabulary words related to outer space and astronomy. We went over the meanings of those words before we put them into context and answered the related vocabulary words. At the end of our session, we read a couple of pages from M. Sasek's book and will spend Thursday reading other chapters from the book and working on reading comprehension!"
"The student and I spent this session working on his project on Duke Ellington together. He already had research done so I helped him type up all the information for the written part by checking for spelling errors and helping him to format the titles and bulletpoints correctly. He is doing really well with forming sentences, spelling, and vocabulary. We spent the last fifteen minutes or so filming some scenes for the "visual presentation" part of his project. He pretended to play the piano and a kazoo saxophone to a Duke Ellington song, in order to help his classmates appreciate Duke Ellington's music."
"The student is continuing along steadily with reading. She is improving on finding context clues and drawing more robust conclusions from the text. Also spent time on math today. She really has a grasp of multiplication with numbers smaller then 6 but needs to work on memorization without counting on the higher numbers."
