Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I are close to finishing L'Etranger. In lessons I generally help her read and understand it. Sometimes I read so she can work on her oral comprehension, sometimes she reads to work on her reading comprehension. As with previous lessons, as she focused her mind on French she became more interested and understood more."
"The student and I had an excellent session involving an extensive discussion of church practices during the holidays and the recent pronunciation from the Synod. Near the end we worked on some exercises to develop sensitivity to tone and diction in French writing."
"The student and I worked mainly on a slide presentation that is due on Thursday for his French 4 class. He was asked to come up with 7 days worth of slides that demonstrate what he does on each day in French (times, activities and places) We then worked on a review of the passe compose."
"Covered the fundamentals of identifying the gender of nouns based on key adjectives and clue words describing said noun. Reviewed common prepositions and adverbs. Read aloud the first page of Ch. 2 in "Le Petit Prince." We're making a lot of progress!"
"The student and I reviewed interrogatives in French. Some of the interrogatives use direct and indirect objects. The student has a test on this during this upcoming week. We decided that she really needs to have two hours of tutoring in French every week to make the kind of progress that she really wants."
"We worked on vocab for the student's spelling test, reading, and other vocab from the list the teacher gave me. Her confidence continues to blossom, which is so nice to see. She had a bit of an aversion to reading, preferring to play spelling/vocab games. I'll be brainstorming ways to make reading fun."
