Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today our focus was on studying the causes and effects of the French Revolution. We stopped just short of the fall of Napoleon."
"We went over the history topics for the student's History class. We discussed all sort of topics ranging from India to Egypt. He seems well prepared for his exam. He was answering questions with ease. I really hope he does well in this exam. From what I could tell, he answered almost all of the questions."
"The student and I continued our work on his history essay regarding The Space Race. We began to expand upon the outline we had formed in our first meeting, and found a number of sources to strengthen his paper. His attitude, once again, was very positive and focused. He takes his work seriously, which I appreciate. When learning, he puts in a great effort to absorb new knowledge, which makes him a very easy student to work with. The student's struggle is primarily just learning fairly unnatural things, like how to footnote properly in Chicago formatting, or how to write in the passive voice. I don't blame him at all for facing difficulties with these, as nearly all students (myself included) struggled with them at one time or another. In this session, I continued to stress the strategy I emphasized in our first meeting, which is "panning for gold" while doing research. In other words, learning to separate the wheat from the chaff with regards to what's valuable information to cite, and what can be omitted."
