Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over math test corrections, and also over science homework about scientific method. He did very well."
"We reviewed place value, and how to write numbers in expanded form. She can do it as long as she takes her time and goes through all the steps."
"We went through his science book, and I quizzed him. I also looked over his progress reports from his teachers, and we talked about how he can do a better job of staying on top of his assignments."
"Last night we covered division and multiplication of rational expressions. He was struggling with the small steps in the process. I gave him more practice and reviewed the addition and subtraction of rational expressions. I gave the student two worksheets for extra practice. One worksheet is reviewing rational exponents. One worksheet is reviewing graphing of rational exponents. He told me that he made 100% on his quiz."
"We covered proportions in triangles and set up two practice problems to solve for 1 side for geometry. For chemistry, we went over the speed of light (wavelength * frequency) equation and an energy equation (E = h * lambda) which we did a few practice problems for. We also went over electron configuration where we listed out the electron configuration of random elements (1s2 2s2 etc.) along with the noble gas configuration of those same elements. The student understood each concept and its application in its entirety."
"Topics discussed in today's session included: *Calculating fractions with exponents. We focused on the properties of multiplications (communitive property - order doesn't matter and associative property- groups change but product will remain the same). *Probability of spinners. I found a short video clip to help with understanding and then made a tree diagram to see all the possible outcomes to help answer the questions *Adding and subtracting positive and negative fractions. Found common denominators, and reviewed rules for computing integers. *Using a number line to determine missing variables value. The student has shown progress here. She is able to find values on number line with ease. The student completed the 7th grade diagnostic assessment. This week I will creating a task analysis and emailing it to her mother. Future sessions will consist of 1/2 questions/concerns the student has on current classwork and the other 1/2 will be mini lessons based on the results of this assessment."
