Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This session primarily focused on 3 point problems, meiosis, and linkage. We went over the notes on this topic and problem solving, including identifying the double crossover gametes, determining gene order and distance, and crossover interference."
"We went over a homework assignment that the student had to complete for the class and went over topics covered in the assignment. These included the set theory, permutations, Bayes theorem and probability theory. I showed him some strategies and shortcuts for completing problems associated with these topics. We spent a lot of time on Bayes theorem and agreed to visit that topic again in the future. We briefly discussed probability distributions and how those relate to statistical analysis, but we plan on going deeper into this topic during the next session."
"We finished topic 4 (all of the bonding) and moved on to topic 5, energetics. In bonding, we went over covalent, coordinate covalent, metallic bonding and intermolecular forces and we talked about the different structures of carbon. In energetics, we went over basic terms such as enthalpy, system and surroundings and energy transfer! The student is understanding the material deeply. We will continue to review all of the VSERP theory and other concepts such as periodic table trends that simply require memorization! Overall, she is doing very well and is on the right track for the exam!"
