"We covered the following topics: - Addition with flashcards - Subtraction - Worked from her math workbook - ixl- word problems"
"Explained new topic of alternate interior/exterior angles. Completed test corrections on geometric transformation."
"In this session, the student and I focused on math. He had just gotten a math test back on which he did not do well. We worked on his math homework for the day and by doing so I explained the issues I saw he had on the exam. (The homework and test both focused on percents, decimals, and fractions.) What wasn't covered in the homework, I pointed out on the test and went over this with him. He will correct the test on his own and I will also review this more with him next session. He seems to be struggling conceptually with what percents, decimals, and fractions are, but today I explained what a part and whole were and how they relate to each other and this seemed to help him. He seemed to have an easier time with this by the end and picked up on what these terms meant, but this is definitely an area that we should continue to work on. He was very engaged the entire session and was really trying to grasp the concepts."
"The student and I covered topics from his test including but not limited to finding the point slope equations when given two points on a graph and/or given a point on a graph and the slope, finding the slopes of perpendicular lines and parallel lines given the slope, finding the solution sets to linear functions (straight lines), parallel lines, and perpendicular lines, and inequalities, defining a function given the parameters in word problems, and using the substitution method to find the solution set to systems of equations. The student was very cooperative throughout the session. He is still struggling with algebraic operations such as adding negative integers and steps involved with solving equations such as isolating the variable. He is progressing at finding the slope when given two points, and finding the point slope equation when given two points and the slope and/or given a point and the slope."
"I gave the student a multiplication fact grid to complete. This will be her answer key. The other grid I supplied should be used with a dry-erase marker to practice her facts daily. I asked her to record her time to see how she improves as she practices her facts. We practiced more multi-digit multiplication and long division. We did one page out of her book and I assigned 5 more pages for her to complete the following week."
"I'm so impressed with the girls' progress. The students have mastered over half of the algebra 2 concepts. Today I introduced them to conic sections. We discussed some of the real life instances of conics, then dove into circles. I also introduced ellipses towards the end of our session. Next week we'll talk about hyperbolas and then parabolas if we have time. Student D has mastered over 80% of the probability and statistics concepts. I was able to clarify the empirical rule, expected values, and probability distributions. She also reviewed conditional probability. I think all three girls are doing a fantastic job and they'll have a real head start on their math for the coming school year."
