Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed her fluency worksheet and reading homework. We read through the passage again using echo reading. We also reviewed sight words and played a few games with them. Then we read a book together that she chose, using a mix of read aloud and echo reading. I paused at key points to have her make predictions or to talk about the characters in the book. I left the sight word cards I made with her mother so that she can work on practicing with them to help her become more fluent."
"Today I helped the student with her math homework which consisted of measuring objects, and comparing object measurements. After that, I had her complete a word sort activity where she had to organize the endings to different words into three columns. Lastly, I had her work on a reading comprehension activity that consisted of her reading a short passage and then answering comprehension questions about the passage. She did a great job with decoding new words. She seemed interested with everything we worked on today. I didn't see any grades from school, and I didn't leave any extra practice."
"The student took an assessment, reading a non-fiction passage about Ducks on a computer program. I assisted him with unfamiliar words but overall he did a good job reading and self-correcting. After reading the passage, he had to fill out a graphic organizer indicating the main idea and then putting in supporting details. He did a nice job remembering some details. However, he was hesitant in going back to the passage to find answers. After completing the graphic organizer, the student took the test associated with the Duck story and got 3/5 correct. He received a total of 3100 dollars that he can use to buy things from the "store' within the website. He decided to save his money until he can get more before he buys anything."
