Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I prepared for his exam this Thursday. The material is very difficult, but he has risen to the occasion. We expect a good grade on this exam. We practiced a hodge podge of exercises, reviews of concepts, and tutoring exercises."
"This session the student and I reviewed comparatives and superlatives. We also went over perfect passive subjunctives. The student completed examples using sequence of tenses. I asked him to pay special attention to subject agreement with passive 4th principle parts. We ended with a broad review of all forms of the subjunctive. I am sending along a review sheet. He did good work."
"Today, the student and I focused on preparing for her upcoming exam. First, we reviewed the main structures (and structural vocabulary) of indirect commands, questions, and purpose statements. Then, we practiced translations. While overall the student seems to have a solid knowledge of each sentence structure in the abstract, she is having some difficulty with the translations. Indirect questions in particular seem to be throwing her, and so today I emphasized translating from left to right, without skipping around, which seemed to help. Tomorrow, we will practice translations some more, and also review some of the more obscure methods of expressing purpose."
