"The student and I started a new box of short phonics books. We also read Fancy Nancy and the 100th day of School, which introduced harder words like "transparent" and "dilemma." We finished our session with Dr. Seuss's Fox in Sock, which challenged her with similar sounding words."
"Today the student did her math homework which consisted of fraction practice. After that, I had her read a mini-chapter book about Cam Jansen going to the zoo. She enjoyed reading the book and we had good discussion back and forth. I stopped and asked her comprehension questions throughout reading. She had a lot of successes with decoding words and remembering to go back if she didn't understand something. We finished the session with math adding practice with white boards."
"The student worked on his sight words. He knew all of them. He also was able to say what letter family we were working with. We also worked on a reading comprehension sheet which he was able to do on his own. We started a new book and were able to get through 2 and a half chapters. The student will be reading up to chapter 5 for the next session. He is definitely improving. His reading is becoming more fluid. He recognizes words from the sight word list as he's reading. The student is also noticing sound patterns in words and makes a point to make a connection to how the words are spelled. He is also now able to discuss what he is reading."
