Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today was my first session with the student, so we mainly focused on reviewing some subjects where she was not feeling confident in her understanding of the problem-solving techniques previously presented in her class. The main subjects we went over concerned methods of finding volumes of various types of 3-D shapes such as the thin-disk method, method of washers, and the method of concentric shells. We also covered arc-length integrations, methods of finding total work, and finding center-of-mass for uniform thin plates."
"I worked with him on completing his math homework. We then reviewed solving equations with fractions, mixed numbers, and percentages. He continues to require support when solving problems with long division involving decimals. Next session we will be working on both math and science."
"We reviewed rational exponents, radicals, and inverse functions in preparation for his upcoming test this Friday. He significantly improved his ability to solve and simplify equations using these concepts over the past few weeks and is in a great position for his upcoming test."
"Today we spent most of the session on word problems. Reading, writing down the information, determining what they were asking us to find and setting up either an expression involving 1 or 2 operations, or an equation to solve. The session went well."
"We went over the multi step Math word problems that I brought. It took her a little longer to solve the problems, she was able to get through and recalled many of the concepts we went over from last session. She was very successful on her test preparation, so we only focused on Math this time. After we finished the problems that I brought, we continued on her Math word problems, where she completed 90% of the section she worked on."
"The student had two worksheets for homework covering area and perimeter. We completed one worksheet and she had a strong understanding of the topics. I had noticed that her notes from class also mentioned circles and triangles which were not on the homework. I make a couple of problems involving these concepts and some other area problems with multiple shapes. After those examples we started to finish the second worksheet with the remaining time. She is going to finish it on her own time, and feels comfortable with the concepts."
