Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed verbs and their prepositions, practicing conjugations and forming sentences with them, and made sure that he's solid on the vocabulary for the current section in class."
"The student and I went over conjugating and formulating sentences with French verbs such as aller, avoir, etre, danser, attendre, etc. We continued to practice and I had her formulate sentences on her own. I encouraged her to continue to practice on her own formulating sentences and using the verbs."
"The student is taking French 3 in high school and has requested reinforcement in speaking fluency. We spent our first session on French conversation."
"The student had a quiz the next day on several French cultural readings. To make sure she understood the text and could pull out the important points, we took turns reading aloud the articles. We wrote down bullet points of important things to know for the quiz and briefly went over how to say dates in French. We also listened to a song that her class studied and had to fill in the blanks on a worksheet. This session was mostly focused on reading aloud and practicing comprehension. She is getting less inhibited about speaking in French the more we work together, which will really help her oral French. She got an A on her test last week, so that is very encouraging! She is doing really well."
"This was a very good session. We spent 2 hours conversing on a variety of topics, including the student's trip, her job, cultures, family, and travel. She was at ease and comfortable. I asked a lot of open questions that allowed her to expand. She could follow along when I told a story and expressed an idea, and she was able to express hers and share her thoughts with no difficulty. She is reaching her goal to feel more at ease when speaking French and to be more involved in the conversation."
"We studied passe compose vs imparfait again. The student is getting better at knowing when to use it and the rules associated. I can see that some of the past participles for passe compose are becoming automatic, so that's a good sign. We worked on translating a song and its lyrics. It's good practice for her to know the sorts of basic things she needs to review. One thing I noticed today is that her pronunciation has improved immensely over the last several sessions."
