Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on sight words, using a worksheet to fill specific words into sentences. Also did a word search for long A words and then worked on several fill-in-the- blank and matching exercises to work on long and short vowels."
"The student and I had a great session. We read a book sent from school before reading a book he was eager to get to, "This Book Just Ate My Dog!" He read the book enthusiastically. We completed an activity afterwards going over his favorite part. He eagerly wrote about the book "eating" the dog and illustrated it as well. Aside from reading, we worked on spelling and math. We played a game to practice his spelling words and used flashcards to practice math. He maintained focus throughout the session and worked very hard."
"The student began with reading an interactive story online. He was instructed to read the sentence after it was read to him. He was able to identify more words, but had a hard time re-reading sentences when asked. He eventually repeated his sentences. I am encouraging him to still point when reading, and if he has trouble with a word, to read the letters of the word out loud before sounding out the word. This seems to help a little with switching his letters. When he is focused on what he is reading he does much better. We finished the session with sight word flashcards, instructing him to spell the word before he says it. He was asked to keep practice reading his books everyday with his family. Summarizing what he reads will also help with his reading comprehension."
