Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on multiplication practice. We did timed practice drills for math facts: times tables 1-12."
"Today we worked with the student's homework assignment on translations and reflections, and then reviewed basic algebraic equations. We also worked several questions on period table of the elements."
"In this session, the student and I focused on math and reading comprehension. He and I worked on a math crossword puzzle to help with his math vocabulary and understanding of concepts. He had a relatively good handle on the concepts. We reviewed this together, and I also showed him how to look these words up in his book when he is unsure of what something means. When completing the crossword, we also focused on spelling and handwriting. He was able to utilize some of the skills we have been working on such as sounding out and did a great job! He also read through a short story and we focused on punctuation and comprehension. He had a really good understanding of the meaning of the passage. Overall he did a wonderful job, and we focused on details such as how to read based on punctuation and paying careful attention to smaller words."
"Today, the student worked on her math homework, which focused on units of measurement, conversions, conversion word problems, ratios, and a general math review. She was able to understand the concepts, and the problems she did need help on, she better understand after we broke the problem down step by step."
"The student finished the homework which included graphing cube root, absolute value, quadratic, linear, and other types of equations. He also had to identify the equation by just looking at the graph and name the domain and range. He did very well with these concepts and we completed our session reviewing factoring the quadratic equation."
"Tonight we worked on and discussed a problem set of 35 questions covering graphing trigonometric functions, synthetic division, rational root theorem, imaginary root theorem, and characteristics of rational functions, including graphing. All this was to prepare the student for a test tomorrow. He continues to be extremely positive and polite. It is a pleasure to work with him."
