Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Tonight we finish going over the student's midterm history study guide. I went over the guide with him making sure that he had all the correct answers. I finished up by orally quizzing him on the concepts."
"We covered the age of exploration from Columbus to the Mayas and Aztecs briefly leading up to New World colonization starting with Jamestown, Massachusetts, Bay Colony, and Rhode Island. Then we discussed some long term and immediate causes of the American revolution such as monarchy control over colonies and their civil liberties including religion, (Puritans, Quakers, and Pilgrims wanted religious freedom), taxation without representation (Sugar Act, Stamp Act, Boston Tea Party, etc.), regulation of colonial trade by king, lack of benefits of a trial by jury, forcing colonists to quarter troops, etc. This was in finishing paper and reviewing for midterm."
"Today we then went through the particular portions of the study guide that the student's teacher focuses on in each test. As he answered I asked him to verbalize his thought process to determine how he makes his decisions on a multiple choice and matching test. By the end of the session we were able to isolate the questions that the student needed to review. It was a good session."
