Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered material in the math and verbal sections, including reading comprehension questions, single- and two-blank text completion questions, strategies for solving text completions (cover up the answer choices, guess your own word, write it down, compare it to the answer choices, process of elimination), systems of linear equations, and a little about quadratic equations."
"Today we went over the student's first attempt at the Analyze an Argument essay and addressed a few of her questions about the practice Quantitative section she had completed prior to the session. We also worked through a few additional practice sections using quantitative comparisons to practice using logic and number knowledge as a shortcut, as well as running through a few Reading Comprehension passages. For extra practice she'll be taking at least a portion of one of the simulation exams."
"The student and I continued going over basic math concepts and did several practice problems for each concept. We specifically went over quadratic equations, inequalities, fractions, and factoring. She seemed to grasp each concept well, but struggled a little with translating word problems into algebraic equations. We discussed translating word problems into real-world terms to help her understand them better (i.e. your shirt costs "less than" mine). She seemed to understand the concepts better this way."
