Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We began the session reviewing the first 75 sight words. We worked on the list from school so that the student can become comfortable reading from it. We read the book to work on fluency and sight word recognition. We then worked on word families and blend cards. We read the high frequency book and a Level E book."
"We began the session by reading a level D book titled, "One Sunny Day." We then went through the sight word flashcards and discussed how fast we need to know these words without stretching them out. We sorted beginning blends using pictures. The student read a level C book without any problems. We finished the session by playing a vocab game. He was able to read through the words instead of saying every sound."
"The student is doing much better with reading comprehension. He's retaining information very well -- in the begging of the lesson, I pointed out repetition to him in a story we were reading; later in the lesson, he pointed it out back to me in another story we were reading and was able to explain why the author was repeating himself. Furthermore, his vocabulary is getting much better, and he is able to explain the meaning of most words to me when I ask him. I will focus on making the writing exercises more fun for him using pictures and drawing."
