Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We began the session reviewing sight words with shaving cream. Then we read a book about dinosaurs. Then we did a page on sight words to work on reading and identifying basic sight words. We finished the session by reviewing the index cards we had made with word families and beginning blends."
"The student and I worked on reading a book and completing a related activity for the majority of this session. We read a Magic School Bus book together and then discussed who the main character was. We decided that Ms. Frizzle was the main character, and he set to work on writing sentences about her. After completing the sentences, he put a lot of work into illustrating pictures related to Ms. Frizzle. We also worked on some subtraction at the end of our session. The student is good at math."
"The student and I worked on reading, listening, his interpretation of what he retained from the story, then answering the questions pertaining to this story. He did well with his interpretation and answering the questions. He was so excited and happy when he would get his work applauded because the response was correct, that he would jump up out of his chair and dance around and around. I let him because a happy child is more willing to sit down and learn from an adult."
