Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"He had a review packet for calculus so we completed it. It included just about every precalculus topic including some early limits."
"We went over her homework: parametric functions and trigonometric identities. She seemed to really grasp the concepts well."
"I met the student for the first time today at the library. We worked on calculus I, in particular a review of algebra for calculus and limits. She has not received any assignments yet so I recommended she work some problems from her text to practice what we discussed. We are meeting again on Wednesday."
"We went through several probability and calculus problems focusing on finding the mean and standard deviation of a set and solving integrals. We looked at how the mean and standard deviation for a set change if we add or multiply each element of the set by the same number. We also talked about percentiles and interpreting a cumulative graph. The student was unsure of when to use substitution to solve an integral, but is doing well using this method to solve an integral. In addition to practicing solving various integrals, we also looked at interpreting a velocity graph and using it to find acceleration and distance traveled."
"During this session, we addressed problems related to sequences and series. This includes the several tests for convergence, root test, ratio test, conditional convergence, absolute convergence, etc. We also went over series divergence, geometric series, telescoping series, the integral test for convergence and divergence of infinite series, and p-series comparison tests. We will soon go into Maclaurin and Taylor series. She is doing well."
"We reviewed for her test tomorrow. This involved going through example problems she was having trouble with: implicit differentiation, some harder chain rule problems, inverse trigonometric differentiation, related rates. She seemed worried about the test, because they have been hard before and they are multiple choice, and her teacher gives no partial credit."
