Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We finished topic 3 and are in the middle of topic 4. - We covered all of periodicity, including the trends with group 1-7 elements when reacting with water or oxygen. - In topic 4, we covered all of ionic bonding and most of covalent bonding. The student should go over topic 1, 2 and 3 theory so that she's familiar with some theoretical terms, e.g. what an ion is etc. Overall, she understands the topics well and does well on practice questions!"
"The student and I primarily worked with the Central Limit Theorem, and its attendant inferences and tools. She demonstrated mastery and understanding of calculating Z scores and determining probability under the curve for population parameters. The student, by the end of our session, was able to interpret word problems that asked for confidence testing and confidence interval approaches to data analysis. We also discussed t-tests and determining the required study size from the desired width of the margin of error."
"We started reviewing vector spaces and inner products, albeit in an intuitive rather than rigorous manner. This all seems new to the student. We moved on to eigenvalues and eigenspaces, and tried to make the bridge from vectors in R3 to functions in Hilbert space. Showed the translation between function notation and bra-ket notation."
