"The student worked through his homework from last week for his statistics class. The homework was over box plots, z-scores, coefficients of variation and standard deviation. He was familiar with the terms from last semester."
"The student brought her homework problems and that took up most of the time. She does a lot of the computations by hand, which is what her professor expects. We were able to discuss some core ideas as well as all the formulas."
"We covered topics in probability such as enumerating the sample space, the use of Venn diagrams to describe unions and intersections, and discrete distributions. We worked through sample problems from the text. The student had a good grasp of the material. She is well prepared for her upcoming midterm."
"The client had homework on multiple regression using SPSS. She emailed me her dataset and we ran the analysis together. We evaluated the output and we brainstormed on how to answer her instructor's questions about the research. She then asked for my help with economic risk assessment and cost/ benefit analysis. By looking through her notes and handouts, we were able to make some sense of it so that she could feel more reassured about her answers."
"We went over some problems that the student missed on her last two quizzes and test. We spent most of the time working on quiz 3. Specifically this covered scatter-plots and linear regressions. Most of the problems involved graphing data and then applying a linear regression and then answering questions based on that information. She seemed to need help most with defining some concepts, but better understood after some brute force memorization!"
"The student was assigned homework on Section 8.3, the definition and properties of limits of sequences. I went over the material with him. I will assign more homework problems for later."
