Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student's teacher assigned homework problems associated with special parallelograms (rectangle, square, and rhombus). The student was pretty comfortable with most of the concepts but we did review them again. She was able to complete the homework fairly well and it has been her best understood concept so far. I hope that we continue to do this well in the subjects in the coming weeks."
"We worked on more properties of circles. This included measures of angles that were formed from secant and tangent lines to circles. We worked on multi-step problems that involved solving multiple equations with multiple unknowns. We also worked on solving for length measures that required use of the quadratic formula. The student is going to complete her worksheet, and we'll review any questions she has before her test. We'll meet earlier next time, so that we have enough time to prepare for the test."
"The student and I were working through sections to prepare for his Wednesday test. He wanted to better understand techniques of solving for lengths by "cutting" and extending shapes from internal tangential connections between two circles of different sizes. We experimented to see how extending a rectangle who's long side was parallel to the tangent line connecting both circles would then allow a right triangle to be cut, and often the Pythagorean Theorem could be applied to find a missing side. We worked through a few of these problems, and I even made one up for him when we ran out. He also showed me how he worked a problem with 3 circles tangentially connected, all of various sizes and limited information. By labeling and assigning unknowns in the correct order, while cutting usable shapes from that diagram, we were able to solve for unknowns, resulting in the solutions of all previously undefined lengths and sizes. He told me he feels very confident about Wednesday's test."
"First session of the new semester. The student did not have any homework as such, but he did have a geometry worksheet about properties of rectangles and parallelograms."
"We reviewed for the student's upcoming exam. We covered proofs involving triangles. Next week, we will have two sessions in order to prepare for his mid-term exam."
"We continued working on the review packet. The student is getting more comfortable about the subject. We will continue to work on this and help her in preparing for her final."
