Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In today's session we covered a variety of the new material the student has been learning. We spent the first part of the session rationalizing radicals and then simplifying them. She had some trouble at first, but after going through a few examples she figured it out. The next part of the session we spent solving for x with two equations that are were set equal to each other. She had no trouble with any of those problems. She spent the last 30 minutes completing two of the quizzes that she was assigned. We will pick back up next Sunday."
"We continued working on review problems for the student's midterm. Tonight, we focused primarily on solving systems of equations with 3 variables and a variety of factoring problems for quadratic expressions. For the factoring problems, we utilized the FOIL concept, distribution, and difference of squares concepts."
"The student and I were preparing for his test on radicals (basic operations, rationalizing the denominator, raising these expressions to exponents) and applications with functions. We were practicing many problems from his textbook and worksheets. He understood the problems we went over today and only a few minor errors were made. He seemed confident with the material we went over. I feel that he is well prepared for his test and it was a successful session."
"We mainly covered concepts from a chemistry lab assignment. The lab assignment was about the visible spectrum, absorption energy, emission energy, wavelengths, and frequency. We also talked about significant figures and conversion factors."
"We spent the session reviewing how to solve for the volume of a rectangular prism. The student is comfortable with the formula and solving for each component. I will be sending home some long division and multiplication practice to eliminate some of his minor mistakes. In general, he has progressed very far."
"Today, we prepared for the student's midterm on Wednesday. We quickly reviewed the topics, and I had her mentally solve some problems to make sure she could solve them. Next, we reviewed two chapters in Biology. Lastly, we discussed her project update that's due tomorrow."
