Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We did SAT prep the whole session. The student is doing much better. I assigned 2 SAT practice sections to do before Friday's session."
"In this session, the twins and I reviewed the first half of a math assessment exam I assigned them last week. They did well. I believe that our meeting was beneficial because they both have an innate interest in learning. I did not have to worry about maintaining their attention. For homework, I assigned them the second half of the test packet."
"Student 1 and I worked on physics today. Specifically, we worked on questions involving rotational momentum/torque. We used the formula (force1)(distance1) = (force2)(distance2). Student 2 and I worked on using inverse trig-functions. She was able to pick this up pretty quickly."
"The student and I worked on his Pre-Algebra project involving percentages, decimals, and fractions. Completing the project provided him with a lesson in conceptualizing portions of the whole and expressing them in either percentages, decimals, or fractions. We then shifted gears to English, as he completed his outline and commentary for his essay. He was engaged in the session and extraordinarily attentive to the material. He did an excellent job of staying focused."
"Today, we worked on chapter 1, sections 1 through 3. We covered Gauss' method and homogenous and particular solutions. Also, we worked a little on how there can be zero, 1, or infinite solutions."
"Today, we went over graphing circles and writing their equations in both standard and general form. We also talked about finding the x and y-intercepts of the circle and how to go from general form to standard form. In chemistry, we went over balancing equations and discussing single vs. double displacement reactions. Overall, the student was doing very well today with the new concepts."
