Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Yesterday the students and I applied our knowledge of using "kan" (to see) and "ji ge" (how many) with animal vocabulary words. I taught them a new way of asking a yes or no question and the word "xi huan" (to like something). This seemed to be helpful as we were able to use old and new vocabulary and concepts. I think this session went great."
"Today we went through numbers 1-10, the colors, and basic greetings. We also got to have fun with animals, objects, and nouns. Next we moved onto learning the basic body parts. We also sang a song that's about numbers, colors, and about basic greetings and asking a person's name."
"We learned six more sentences today. We had a great time. The homework for the student today is to teach another student how to say those sentences."
"We reviewed everything we've learned so far. We practiced Q & As and dialog, making sure the student understood everything he has learned so far. While reviewing, I also added new materials. The new vocabulary and phrases for today were: company/work place, last year, and know/don't know. We used these new vocabulary words and expressions to make new sentences. The homework is to practice asking these questions and making statements by using what he already has learned."
"Today, we focused on, the verb "gustar" and the weather. The student picks up the material very quickly, and once it is explained to him, he has no issue whatsoever applying the material. He had a very positive attitude during the sessions and seems very eager to learn. We do a lot of writing and speaking, which allows for him to retain the material much easier."
"Today, we went over the study guide for the student's exam tomorrow. We did a review of the present progressive tense and one "irregular" situation (leer-->leyendo). We also discussed direct object pronouns and when to use each one. We also did several practice questions. Additionally, we talked about diphthongs and pronunciation of vowel combinations."
