Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we prepared for the student's lecture exam tomorrow evening. We covered one problem from her practice problems that she was questioning, but mostly practice exams. These practice exams covered a great depth and I think she understands the majority of it. The only issues I saw were some very involved algebraic and/or chemistry concept problems. We discussed the easy problems quickly, and spent the majority of time covering the deeper questions. We reasoned carefully through each and I discussed how to reason through them. She picks up on these fairly quick and we discussed how to attack problems and figure out when and what equations to use. Her test is tomorrow and she told me she will keep me updated. I think she has a wonderful shot at improving her grade in this course, she puts the work in and has the motivation and fascination."
"First session with this student today. We discussed goals and complications in her AP Physics course. She feels fairly confident with most of the material. We reviewed some SHM and Waves and then worked through several problems from her book. She would like to review practice problems from the AP exam to get ready for the test in a few weeks."
"The student and I covered a lot of material from the molecular genetics chapter but are yet to finish it due to the large amount of high-yield information in this chapter. We covered up to translation of protein from mRNA. We will finish this chapter Tuesday in addition to completing heredity. He is very bright and I'm confident we can do well on this exam, as long as he stays diligent and does not get over confident."
"We reviewed some of the student's homework and reviewed all of the chapter 1 material (pH, atoms, elements, matter, chemical bonds)."
"We focused on practice questions for the exam the next day. The student seemed to have good handle on most of the subject matter. His challenge was metric system calculations and multiplication and division by factors of ten. He hasn't had these concepts in his math courses. I gave him some practice problems."
"We went over metabolism, respiration and photosynthesis. The student seemed to understand all concepts deeply and she is performing very well in her class!"
