"Both students practiced the sight words work the flashcards. They did very well! Student 1 needs to remember to look carefully at the words while he is reading them. He will sometimes insert the sound of letters that are not in the words. Then both students used the reading workbook and read the directions together, then student 1 did the activity that followed. He was instructed to keep practicing his flashcards to recognize the words and use them in sentences."
"We focused on vowel sounds, particularly on long and short vowel sounds and how they are created in words. The student came up with rhyming words and read them aloud. We did a word search on long A words and began one on long E words. I left the E word search for the student to work on."
"Began session by making notecards with word families and beginning blends to review when we begin our sessions. Then we read a high frequency book and reviewed simple sentences. Then we played a dice game that formed more words from -ut, -at, -ell, -en, and -ug families. Then we finished session by reading a book that was sent home from school."
