Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We began the session by reviewing regular verbs and practicing their conjugations. In addition, I asked the student to practice stressing the vowel sounds that form the words. After conjugating, I gave her exercises on comprehension, in which she had to read a sentence or phrase in English and then match it to its Spanish counterpart. She did very well on this exercise, which shows her comprehension is at a good level. Finally, we ended the session with a fairy tale in Spanish- Little Red Riding Hood. Overall, it was a good session."
"We finished up chapter 3 in the textbook and did a lot of written and oral activities. Chapter 3 concluded with the present progressive."
"The student has a written exam this Friday, so we began the session with a "check-in"-- what he feels the most and least comfortable with, what class is like and his issues with his Spanish class, and what the exam will cover. Because his exam will cover Chapters 1-6, I picked sentences to say out loud in Spanish for him to write down. We wrote about 2 pages front and back from Chapters 1-5. I then went through sentence by sentence and explained why some of his spelling was wrong, as well as having him guess at the correct spelling. His homework was to finish going through all the sentences, looking up the words and cross-referencing the spelling."
