"The student and I worked on his spelling words, literature packet, and reading this session. We began by working on his spelling words. We played a "game" with the words that he was struggling with. We took turns spelling the same word, but each time we had to find a new way to write the letters. He responded well to this. He was also very eager to read his new books. His reading skills have improved as well as his desire to read."
"We worked mostly on reading. He had two reading passages where he had to read a paragraph and answer questions about what he read. He worked hard at word recognition when I made him read independently. After he read independently, I read with him for comprehension. He did well answering questions. He also had to look at a picture then read the sentences below the picture and choose a word to complete the sentence based on the picture and what he read. I also had him read his sight words to me and read to me from a book."
"Student and I went over sight words. We played several games that incorporated his sight words which he really seemed to enjoy. He likes to move around and the games allowed him to do that. He is able to read about 90% of his sight words, but I noticed he cannot spell them when not looking at them, so we will be working on that."
