Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student easily understood topics covered. Testing tips may/should lead to one to two grade increase on next exam."
"The pupil and I worked on adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing decimals. In the process, we practiced estimations, mental math and strategies for solving problems."
"The student studied for her upcoming math test. She understands the material and just needed a little help with notation and identification of equations."
"Today was a great session! She is an incredibly bright student and such a joy to work with. Today we spent the majority of the time going over science concepts in preparation for the standardized test that's coming up. She needs to continue practicing checking her work and going back over context clues and passages for answers. We also spent a few minutes on her math homework -she is sailing through 4th grade math, so we will start working on 5th grade concepts."
"Today I guided the student through some advanced stats sets on interpreting data. We went through pictographs, stem and leaf plots, and line plots. Generally, I explained to her how the graph was supposed to be read and went through the first problem, and she solved the rest with periodical guidance from me. We went over the different question phrasings so that she would know what words to look for and what they meant for finding the answer."
"We worked a bit on multiplication of double-digit numbers and long division. Talked briefly about equivalent fractions and multiplying/dividing fractions. The student would benefit in learning terminology (reciprocal, product, etc.); working on factoring; organizing work (making sure numbers in each problem are properly lined up rather than too spread or too thinly spaced-leads to confusion & improperly added/subtracted numbers); practicing new method of multiplication/division. The student was very open and enthusiastic about learning new methods of solving problems. Wins from this session are that the student felt more confident tackling complicated multiplication problems with a new method (box method)."
