Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I worked with the student today mostly on subjunctive. We did a bunch of practice exercises on differentiating between imperative and subjunctive, and incorporating the past tense. She just needs to spend some time practicing and memorizing. At the end of our session, we spent ten minutes having a Spanish conversation. While this is difficult for her, she is getting better and the conversations help her to contextualize the grammar we learn in everyday situations."
"The student and I discussed worksheets that his mother sent to me. We also covered the imperfect and preterite, and I had him practice his verb tenses on the whiteboard."
"-We covered the differences between the preterit and imperfect tenses and did some drill work with the conjugations of verbs in these tenses. -We also worked on memorization of irregular conjugations."
"The student and I focused on reading a Spanish myth. We reviewed preterito and imperfecto verb tenses, mostly on -ar. She has a great grasp of them and quickly picked up translating full English sentences into Spanish. We created a vocab list from words she didn't know in our reading. She should memorize those, as well as complete her homework assignment."
"Last night we worked on forming preterite exercises for the student's homework. She did well with that. Then we reviewed conjugating in the preterite for her test. She does pretty well with it and remembers a lot from last year. Sometimes she mixes it up with present tense or mixes up the subjects."
"The student completed her workbook homework for the next week, including formal commands, subjunctive conjugation, and initial basic subjunctive usage. We reviewed relevant vocabulary from the chapter with a focus on words that will cause the subjunctive tense. We reviewed the differences and similarities between formal commands, informal commands, and the present subjunctive tense."
