"Great job today! You really have that long division down, and the factoring as well. Don't forget to carry the first coefficient down when you're doing synthetic division, and you can always check with long division if you're unsure. See you next Wednesday!"
"We started in the "writing skills section" of the exam prep text and focused on the sentence correcting skills (35 questions), and then moved on to do two practice tests just as we did last week. This time he got scaled scores of 540 and 520, which is a moderate improvement. I noticed Ike has a better strategy now of focusing on the first 30 questions and going back and checking them, which gives him at least 7 more raw score points each time around."
"We began the process of reviewing her practice test. The student has done very well and we are attempting to round out her knowledge before the test."
"We spent a good amount of time on each subject again, this time focusing a little more on test-taking strategies. Since the student seems to be better with English and Reading, I asked him to do one complete section of Math and one complete section of Science before our next session. I asked him to time it and to practice using time management. I also asked him to start using certain strategies, like doing all the Algebra problems first, doing Science sections with more pictures and less writing/ graphs first, etc."
"The student and I worked through an English and a math section, and then she wrote an essay. Her writing is improving greatly, and she is finally getting the hang of using specific examples. I then gave her some practice word problems, which were similar to some of the problems she had missed in the previous math section."
"The student and I reviewed states of matter for her upcoming test and went through a couple lab reports relating temperature, pressure and volume of a gas and heat lost or gain in water. I brought a practice test for her on photosynthesis and cellular respiration to review for her upcoming finals. We went through the material afterwards and she just needed a refresher since it had been awhile since she covered the material. For our next sessions, I plan to keep bringing practice tests so that she can get into the habit of studying for finals ahead of time."
"Reviewed analysis of PSAT. Went over SAT as a whole, talked about writing essay for SAT, covered scoring and general test-taking strategies. The student is a friendly kid and good at math and science. He is attentive and seems to have a great attitude."
"In today's session we focused on preparation for tomorrow's assessment. We worked through various sets of questions which included topics such as scale factor, percentage, tax, discount, graph, equation of a line in slope-intercept form, and double point form. This session was beneficial for the student because it helped him review his old topics as well as new ones. I am confident that the student will do well on this test."
"I helped the student with problems on her review sheet for the final that she could not figure out on her own. I also helped explain why some of her answers were incorrect. She didn't seem to have any common mistakes with these problems, she simply did not remember how to do those topics. We will continue to work on problems from the book to refresh her on those previous topics."
"Today we split the time between reviewing for his chapter 10 test tomorrow and his free-response final on Thursday, so we covered sine and cosine with their properties, stretching or shifting a function, exponential functions and logarithms. He remembered sine and cosine from last week very well. We had to review the concepts and some formulas for the other topics as we worked through the review problems."
"The student and I primarily focused on his history final. We went over many chapters, focusing on the main dates and people. He had a firm grasp on most of the material."
"The student and I worked on composing the rough draft of paragraph 3 and 4 of his JFK informative essay. He was focused and engaged throughout the session. He had a lot of great examples and facts and was able to put them into sentences with guidance. Lastly, we did a few pages of practice cursive."
