Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This was my first session with the student. We began by going over basic concepts like standard deviation and various measures of center. We started to cover the normal distribution and z-scores and should get through z-scores on Thursday. He has only about a month until the AP test so we're going to have to move fast, but he had no problem with how fast we moved today and that bodes well."
"The student has a homework assignment due tonight. We discussed questions from the first & second chapter. These covered statistical data types, statistics for different data types, and inference from charts & tables."
"Reviewed sampling distribution characteristics, normal distribution and solving for sample mean or proportion. Began reviewing previous quizzes for upcoming mid-term."
"I helped the student understand concepts for his homework including odds, relative risk, and odds relations."
"We did test prep for upcoming online stats test. We covered questions that the student had about material for test."
"Today we worked on finding the mean, median and mode, both by hand and using Excel. We discussed the counting principle, probabilities of events happening and union and intersections."
"I helped the student work on a take-home test for class. I taught her about different types of variables and how she can tell which statistical test she should use to test different hypotheses."
"In this session, we covered chapters 18-22 and talked about all the different equations and statistical tests he will need for his upcoming take-home exam."
"We went through the student's Chapter 10 test to review where he made mistakes. We also worked on Chapter 10 homework."
"The student's AP class is finished with new material, and is in final preparations for the AP Exam on May 10. She is nervous because there isn't much time, and she's finding on the practice exams that she doesn't remember much of the earlier material very well. Today, therefore, we determined a plan of approach: review the 10 sections of material in her review manual over 3 tutoring sessions, then focus the final week on full practice exams. We went through most of 3 of the sections today; she will finish reading through the 3rd on her own and try as many practice problems as possible this week from those sections."
"We covered two assignments today. The first was about chi-squared analysis and testing whether two variables were independent or related. The second assignment was on weighted averages."
"We covered the elements of ANOVA and how to do the calculations, using an example but also setting up generic layouts for use during the upcoming exam."
