Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I covered trigonometric identities during this session. Initially, he was having trouble identifying how to simply trigonometric functions using the identities. We used his worksheet from class and worked through about half of the problems. I noticed his skill and confidence building."
"The student got some more information about the placement test she has to take in order to enroll in the calculus class this summer, so we were able to start focusing our studying the specific topics she will need to review before hand. We went over simplifying expressions with exponents, complex fractions, equations of lines, perpendicular lines, quadratic equations and the quadratic formula. We also found a couple of pre-calculus resources with explanations of more of the topics she will be tested on and plenty of practice problems to go through before our next session."
"The student informed me that she only had a couple of questions. She was currently working on permutations and computations. I went over some basics to gauge her understanding. We then worked on the problems set by her teacher. The famous 'monkey typing' probability question. I did my best to explain to her how to find the probability. She seems very knowledgeable in the subject area."
"This was my first session with this student. She had a difficult time with the content of the previous chapter but has better understanding in the current topics. We worked on the section from which she had homework problems and reviewed how to do long division, synthetic division, and factoring. We also reviewed how to use those methods to find function values and to find the solutions of equations. She struggled more with long division so we worked on more practice problems to get her more comfortable going through the steps."
"Tonight, the student and I reconvened to help her prepare for a quiz she has tomorrow over vectors and motion. We analyzed several review problems to ensure that she understood the kind of process involved, and by the last example, she was solving problems on her own."
"The student and I covered: -Trigonometric Identities -Verifying Trigonometric Identities -Graphing Trigonometric Functions All that is left for him to complete on the course is a review session and the final exam. He has greatly improved his math and problem-solving skills as our tutoring sessions have progressed. He has become a more organized and confident learner."
