Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I had my first session with this student today; he's a complete beginner, so I first introduced him some basic knowledge about the Chinese language and what are the some tools and techniques to use to in process of learning. Then we started with the 4 tones. We practiced how the 4 tones work and how different meaning can apply to 4 different tones, then I introduced him the basic greetings, we engaged in basic Q & A of how to start a greeting. Today's new phrases were: hello, how are you? I'm good, and you? good, thank you. I also taught him 3 subjective: I/me, you, he/she/it. The homework is to practice the 4 tones and basic greetings."
"We covered expressions, the alphabet, numbers, and parts of the body. The student was extremely focused during this session. She still has a Spanish DVD of cartoons for additional practice that I gave her last session."
"The student needed to review new vocabulary words, this included reflexive verbs. We went over the words in English and in Spanish. We put them in sentences as well. She did very well with the vocabulary and the reflexive verbs."
"Today we focused more on conversing. The student has plenty of material he has learned, so now we need to continue practicing to apply it. We watched a video about tourism and we talked discussed it. From there we just continued to build and practice conversation. Not much new material was learned today. We finished the session with a little bit of reading comprehension."
"We continued checking regular reflexive verbs in Spanish. The students did a great job. They were working together without any problem, doing sentences of daily activities, and then guessing the meaning of some verbs in Spanish and writing their meanings in a paper. The homework for this week is to memorize a verb per day with its right conjugation."
"Today I helped the student prepare for a Chinese test which would come tomorrow. She needed to memorize the translation from English to Chinese. I corrected her sentences and showed how to write Chinese characters properly. I also highlighted the words that she was unfamiliar with. Then I checked the new textbook given by her Chinese teacher."
