Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered the rest of the student's notes up to this date. His notes were on magnetic inductance and Ampere's law. Looking at the notes, I can see that the professor will focus on two specific scenarios each involving a toroid, or solenoid. The goal of the next few sessions is to do as many practice problems as possible."
"Today the student and I went over an exam she got back. She did well and we went over any questions she had from the test."
"We did 75 minutes of physics (point charges and circuits) and 60 minutes of algebra II (solving nth degree polynomials)."
"We went over the student's study proposal for his independent study next year. He completed the timeline and worked on some of the content for the proposal. We are planning on covering the intro material and Chapter 1 of his electronics book, The Art of Electronics. It's ambitious, but I think one chapter spread out over the semester is doable. The independent study will conclude with building a radio receiver."
"Today we discussed the concept of tension and drawing free-body diagrams for objects hanging on ropes. Next we tried problems 1, 5, and 11 in Section 5.1 of Chapter 5. As we go deeper in the chapter, the problems get longer and more extensive, so it might take a while to get comfortable with them, but he seems to be doing great in the subject so far so I don't think he'll have any problem."
"The student and I went over the problems from his study guide that he couldn't understand. I helped him where I could and pointed him in the right directions for the last problems. I told him he could email me if he had any questions."
