Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went over her math homework, which covered solving missing lengths using proportional triangles and calculating the volume and surface area of particular solids."
"We reviewed slope intercept form, graphing equations, finding and defining slopes of equations, transforming equations from standard to slope intercept form, and solving for variables."
"The student and I reviewed number recognition and written form, pattern recognition, counting to 20 and counting by 10s."
"Student A and I completed his 20 minutes of reading (plus a comprehension quiz on which he scored 100%), practiced his math facts (7s and 8s), and he completed an assignment that was significantly overdue (85%). His attitude is generally positive, which is a good sign. Student B and I worked on her assignment list and practiced her addition and subtraction skills (speed math and word problems). She seems solid in single-digit problems, but the double-digit questions take a little more time and occasionally require the use of manipulatives (counting on fingers, using a number line, etc.). More practice wouldn't hurt at all. As always, her attitude was sparkling! Overall, both kids did well today!"
"Today, the student and I worked on algorithm division, box method multiplication, and science. Also, we continued working on compound sentences, as well as revising, editing, and sentence completion. As usual, she was very eager, and is motivated by immediate feedback on her work."
"The student and I did a little warm-up exercise. Then I gave her a real example of how to add up money from a lemonade stand. I think in the future we can break the tutoring session up into 10 minute intervals of math followed by 1 minute of reading."
