Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed the student's homework throughout this session. On the whole, it all went very well. We had a few rate problems to go over. Following that, we worked through the questions he had on reading comprehension questions that were assigned. Some of these issues were very "picky" ones, hence no major worries in this regard. Then, we worked through a practice test he did; only a few questions here as well. Finally, we reviewed the two issue essays he wrote. These turned out well on the whole. I only had some minor critical remarks-some tone, some about the amount of content (a little bit too short)."
"We started the session with a look at some strategies and areas to focus on for the verbal portion of the test, predominantly the reading comprehension questions. We discussed and practiced some approaches for drawing conclusions about the author's purpose and for making inferences, two areas which we will continue to work on next time. (Overall, however, she has a strong starting point for reading comprehension.) After that we tackled general approaches for the two essay types, looking at common weakness areas for analyzing an argument and some methods for refuting opposing arguments in analyzing an issue. The student's homework consists of a math diagnostic to review what we did in our last session and essays to try out the two styles."
"Today we discussed the strategy of picking values for math questions with variables as well as circle geometry. The student continues to improve his grades."
