Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This afternoon the student began working on the K12 Earth Science curriculum. Reading lesson notes online, listening to verbal explanations and taking short quizzes, he completed Lessons 1 through 9. Six quiz grades were 100% and two grades were 83% and 85% (all indicating content "mastery") -- there was no quiz for Lesson 1. The content in Unit 1 included Rocks and Minerals, plate tectonics and the supercontinent, Earth's layers (atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere, asthenosphere), the magnetosphere, latitude and longitude, maps, topography, weathering and erosion, soils and desertification. Throughout the session he was happy and asked additional science questions."
"The student will be starting her cell biology class pretty soon so we spent this session working on an outline for the class. Our hope is that an outline will help her stay on task and will help her get a clearer idea of what she struggles with or is comfortable with. This class uses the same textbook as her general biology book, but only focuses on the cell biology chapter! We are optimistic that even though the overall material is the same, the class will be interesting and will imbue this content with greater depth."
"This was our second session together. The student came with questions and specific information she would like to go over. We went over the citric acid cycle, the electron transport chain, allosteric regulators of glycolysis. She has a exam on Wed, which we continued to prepare for today's session by going over some practice exams."
