Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student and I worked on a worksheet focusing on systems of equations. I provided the worksheet and he worked through it with my help. Next time we will work on factoring."
"Completed homework assignment on comparing and ordering decimals and fractions. We will be doing time trials on the multiplication tables during our next meeting."
"The student and I worked on his math homework and organizational skills. He was working on multiple step algebraic equations. He had minimal difficulties with these problems and showed a very strong grasp of the concepts. Towards the end we worked on organizing his school binder."
"The student and I continued to review for his final at the end of the year by going over chapter 3 of the study guide during our session which covered solving and graphing systems of equations and matrices. Overall, I feel he knew most of the material but was challenged with solving for 3 equations, 3 unknowns; we went over a few examples until he felt comfortable with the material. The student and I talked about how he seems to over complicate problems which leads to mistakes and if he gains a stronger understanding of the material the problems will seem more simple. I gave him an assignment to complete study guides for chapter 4 and 5 by our next session."
"We covered a review for an upcoming test, which was over 7th grade pre-algebra. During the review we covered polynomials, degrees, exponent rules, systems of equations. Solving systems through elimination was a new concept which both girls needed to go over in depth. With Student G, it was easier for her to understand once I cut the concept down to more basic problems and then had her attempt the review problem. With Student E, she had a slightly incorrect notion of how to do the problem, but once we went over a few on the review, she was on the right track. Student G will need to finish a homework worksheet on systems of equations on her own."
"We practiced the main applications of logarithmic functions, such as pH of chemical solutions, ecological diversity, and sound readings relative to the problems given to us through her online interface. This should accurately prepare her for the problems which will be asked of her on her final exam."
