Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student was working on a long homework assignment dealing with stellar dynamics and the Solar System. This assignment covered a lot of ground, and it was clear some of the details of this material were harder to pick up. But she was in very good spirits and got most of the material quite easily."
"We went through her Physics homework on conservation of angular momentum. We talked about how to set up the problems and focused on what inertia means and how it's calculated. We then looked at the next section in her Pre-Calc book on parametric equations. She did very well with the example problems."
"The student and I worked on practice problems from worksheets that her teacher assigned. We continued on the topic of rotational motion. We had applied force/torque balances to solve mechanics problems in the past. Today, we looked at how to solve the same problems using conservation of energy. We also looked at a couple brief, conceptual multiple choice problems. These problems are intended to be solved intuitively as opposed to explicitly, so they require a strong understanding of physics concepts. One involving conservation of energy took the longest to explain, so we will focus on this topic next session. Kinematics came the most naturally, which is good because it is a common thread across other mechanics solution techniques."
