Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student has four English essays to work on this week, so we spent the entire session discussing them in detail. She was having a hard time coming up with examples to support her points in her persuasive essay, so we devoted about an hour to brainstorming and outlining specific examples for this prompt. We then took a look at one of her rhetorical analysis essays and outlined that as well, discussing the three main body paragraphs and going over a few unclear points in the passage. As usual, it was lovely to work with her, and I'm confident that she's going to do well on both tests."
"Almost the entire session was dedicated to practicing an approach to the Synthesis free response question on the Language test. The student and I reviewed six questions from released exams. Together we found a way for him to approach this question. I feel confident that he will do well on this question. To reinforce this, I asked him to briefly summarize five of the questions and fully answer one of them. He has that as a homework assignment which is due this Thursday. Another very productive session. He is working hard!"
"On Tuesday, we continued to work on her AP preparation. Her multiple choice is coming along. She is doing better with reading the passage and annotating it before she starts the questions. In our next section, we will work on writing 2-3 word notes by each paragraph in the long passages so that she will have an idea as to where to look first. Before we meet again on Tuesday, she is going to finish her note cards and do two multiple choice passages."
