Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student has an opportunity to retake a chemistry test on which she had received low marks and so our session focused on preparation for that exam. We first looked at the errors made on her first test and solidified conceptual understanding of unit one introductory chemistry topics: scientific method, controlled experimental design, measurement, metric system, significant figures, scientific notation, conversions and dimensional analysis, and density. At the end, we went over good study habits and daily study plans, and I provided her with related handouts. I also encouraged her to make flashcards on important topics that aren't so straightforward but are important for foundations in chemistry. Prior to class I had her take an online survey regarding learning styles and we found out that she learns best when she can explain things out loud. She also grasps concepts better when a visual diagram is presented, so I wrote out examples and concepts and then had her explain them back to me. She is very bright. She definitely can grasp the concepts and just needs to spend a little more time studying. This in turn will boost her confidence. I encouraged her to review specific topics prior to her exam and we arranged to meet on a weekly basis."
"Topics: Equilibrium chemistry and precipitation reactions. Progress: Worked through assigned practice problems."
"Worked on homework problems on the topic of Quantum numbers. Finished the assigned problems and so we worked on the extra credit problems from the chapter."
