Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student had a great day today! We discussed parts of the World Issues assignment that he was having difficulty with. Most of our time was spent on statistics work about data gathering. He did very well, but did have some trouble distinguishing between survey results and the manner in which the survey was conducted when determining if there was bias/credible representation. We also spent about 20 minutes doing some of the World Issues assignment (sections A and B) and emailing his Chemistry teacher about setting up a time for him to take the quiz."
"Today's session was focused on the student's calculus coursework. The student had some review pdf files to use for her final exam review which we were able to get through within the allotted time. The student asked very appropriate questions and she was able to come to correct answers on her own after given some pointers. I advise her to work on as many practice problems as she can before her final exam tomorrow."
"We covered a number of topics during today's session including probability, empirical probability, the Law of Large Numbers, theoretical probability, the Counting Principle, permutations, and solving probability problems using combinations."
"Today's session with the student went really well! She is learning about dilation and translation of shapes, so for the session we focused on her homework. There was a graph with shapes included, and each activity was meant to perform dilation or translation based on the criteria of the question (one was a dilation factor of 2, the other was a translation of about 5 spaces). She did seem to have a really good understanding of the concepts overall which is great! I don't think she will have any issue answering the questions so long as she can focus."
"During this session, we reviewed solving quadratic equations by factoring. The student did well overall. As usual, I reminded her to remain consistent with her practice."
"The student wanted to work on his final project. We went over the basics of how he is setting up the research project. We discussed his options and he selected the variables he will use. I gave him some information about the function and interpretation of regression analysis. Lastly, we went over the different required sections of the paper and outlined what should be included so he can move forward on the write up."
