Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I gave the students their score reports and told them we would cover them in the individual sessions. Then we went over Writing practice problems for the majority of the session. Then we did Math problems for the last 30 minutes."
"Today we worked on trigonometry functions and properties of functions. We solved their review sheet which involved simplifying expressions and proving them. Both students have a good understanding but need to work on choosing the right properties to solve questions."
"We spent some time planning for the summer and then got through the first 5 sections, which were mostly review. The student's very bright, and she has a good understanding of what she knows. I plan to focus on building her understanding of vocabulary and types of problems as we progress through the material."
"Today we talked more about quadratic functions, absolute value functions, and rational functions. We talked about factoring to finding the LCD of rational functions and solving functions for absolute value, quadratic, and rational functions. He seems to have a strong understanding of the material."
"The student and I worked some on her math, and she read to me for a while. She seems to think math cannot be fun...We are going to have to think of some ways to fix this. Today, we played with dice and rolled them and she had to add the numbers. I think next time I will bring some colors and worksheets...maybe if they are art projects she might have more fun with it."
"We spent the session reviewing the student's database management assignment. We reviewed her entity relationship diagram, and made some suggestions. Data normalization was reviewed also. Near the end of the session, we started on the SQL statements section. We plan to continue that in the next session on Sunday."
