Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered US Foreign Policy- specifically the War Powers Act of 1973, the Monroe Doctrine and the relationship between the president and congress in formulating policy. We also discussed the role of State Department, the Department of Defense and the National Security Council in shaping foreign policy; we covered the Bush Doctrine and how US foreign policy has changed since 9/11. My focus has been to get her thinking about broad concepts and be able to apply these concepts to specific questions on her AP quizzes. I want her to recognize common themes that govern US policymaking."
"We worked on the student's essay writing and her answers for the multiple choice in both the AP Language and the AP Lit. exam. She does have work to do, but she is a fast and apt learner."
"This is for both 4/14 and 4/21. The student and I worked on how to answer free response questions for both Human Geography and World History."
"The student and I went over some areas for his Math final, mainly absolute value, logarithmic problems, and probability. He really grasped the probability, and got the last eight questions correct. I feel confident he understands this now. I would say he is okay on the other two, but I will give him some other logarithmic and absolute value questions for us to review before the final. Overall, a much better session, and he had good focus."
"For this session we focused on the student's AP Physics summer homework. This homework was mostly conceptual, with some introduction to distance/ speed/ time relationships. There was also some review of trigonometry, which we worked on with the SohCahToa method."
"The student and I discussed the his summer reading assignments and essay to determine his thesis statement and body of arguments/ supports. His assignment is similar to crafting a synthesis based a trio of important social commentaries from the last two centuries. He has put together some substantial quotes that will serve him well with his stance on "freedom's double-edged sword." We will meet again on Tuesday to reflect on the new and/or revised outline that I will create from his ideas, and decide if he wants to continue in this direction with his essay. Great work!!"
