Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I continued to discuss/ review molecular bonding today. We focused on drawing Lewis diagrams, including resonance structures, and talked a little bit more about molecular geometry. Overall, she seems much more comfortable with these topics than when we started the session."
"Today we worked on freezing point, boiling point, how to calculate molality, and mole fractions. The student is still struggling with the conversion of grams into moles and moles into grams. He needs to practice that a little bit more. We will continue to work on it."
"We finished the textbook problems in the electric circuits chapter, then spent some time looking over some returned material about kinematics. The student had done very well on those. Then we tried to find some old AP Physics B circular motion problems, but I ended up making some up instead."
"We covered chordates and the subphyla therein. The student needed help with keeping track of all of the names and phyla so we went over that in detail. Her attitude towards the material was positive. I made sure to repeat concepts from previous sessions and tried to tie in various groups together for comparisons. For wins, she was able to recall and define certain concepts that had previously been difficult for her to remember!"
"We talked about entropy, enthalpy, and Gibbs free energy. We also reviewed together three homework assignments that are due tomorrow. She seemed to understand all the concepts and felt comfortable with the material at the end of the session."
"The student and I have been reviewing for Physics exams. He just had a test on electrostatics, but he does not yet know his score. Today, we spent all of our time reviewing DC resistance/circuit problems. I showed him how to redraw and serially "dumb down" each circuit to arrive at the answers."
